Anglo European College of Chiropractic students support Movember Campaign

Posted on Friday, 27 November 2009 10:28AM by Lisa Northover

Students studying chiropractic at the AECC in Bournemouth have been actively supporting the Movember Campaign to highlight men’s health issues. This annual campaign saw students bringing back the moustache, by growing and grooming their moustache over the month of November.

The Movember campaign is a moustache growing charity event held during the month of November which raises funds and awareness for men’s health, in particular prostate cancer. Participants known are known as ‘Mo Bros’ supported by their ‘Mo Sistas’ and effectively become a walking billboard for men’s health.

To date, Movember has raised over £30 million globally for the fight against prostate cancer and depression in men. And, more importantly, as a direct result, male awareness of health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread health messages directly to millions of Mo Bros and Sistas around the world.

The seven students got in full swing on 1st November, starting clean shaven, raising money, whilst perfecting their moustaches. They hope to have made a difference when the students part with their new facial hair at the end of the month.  It is definitely a dashing look, but all in support of a fantastic cause.

Going forward, Movember will continue to work towards helping to change established habits and attitudes and make men aware of the risks they face, thereby increasing early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.
