Description The Boscombe Cliff Bowls Club, founded in 1904, was the second Lawn Bowls Club in the Bournemouth area. Our Green and Clubhouse are situated at the corner of Woodlands Avenue and Southbourne Overcliff Drive. Tour Secretaries of Clubs contemplating a short tour to Dorset may book a match by contacting our Match Secretary (see Club Officials page). The Pavillion was erected in 1927 with Café facilities which are open to the general public as well as our members. Paul serves all day breakfasts,lunches and afternoon teas in the Cafe from 9.00 till 5.00 everyday of the week until the end of September. Our Green is a public one and owned by the Bournemouth Council but the organisation for running it rests with our club members by providing stewards through out the season. Any one can bowl here for a reasonable fee. Although Boscombe Cliff is a private club we encourage any newcomers to the game to become members so whatever your age and provided you are reasonably fit what are you waiting for. The choice is yours! We are also the home green for the Shelley Park Bowls Club whose members have played on our green since the demise of their own green within Shelley Park. As most friendly matches are mixed their members assist us in providing the team.
