Merrivale Allotments
12 plots situated off Merrivale Avenue, close to East Bournemouth Allotments. There are no facilities on site other than water and no access by car. Due to the limited numbers of plots there is a long waiting list.

Springbourne Allotments
Can be found to the rear of Springboure Library on Holdenhurst Road. As with Merrivale the only facility available is water and there is no access for cars. With only 4 plots there is also a waiting list.

Council run allotment plots at Merrivale and Springbourne are currently leased at £3.30 per 25 square metres per year, with the average plot being 250 square metres.
Both sites have limited facilities and waiting lists vary from 1 to 9 years depending on turnover of plotholders.
Anyone interested in applying for an allotment can request a form by telephoning 01202 451191 to go onto the waiting list, and once offered a plot will sign a legal agreement.
Each summer, allotment holders are invited to enter a competition for the best-kept plots on each site and the overall best-kept plot in the town. The competition is judged on standards of maintenance and crop quality and variety, the top plots winning cash prizes and an invitation to the Bournemouth In Bloom prizegiving awards evening. The holder of the best-kept new allotment plot each year also wins an invitation and vouchers for compost.
