Climate change has long been a fiercely debated topic nowadays. In the recent years the disastrous effects of this phenomenon have been witnessed by everyone around the world and in most of the cases we’ve been in its direct line of fire. Humans have exploited Mother Earth’s resource to such an extent that the decimation of our environment has gone on auto pilot mode and unless the most technologically superior race of this planet decides to get back in the driving seat, our journey towards Armageddon would be in the fast lane.
More recently we see a lot of corrective action been taken on this front not just by individuals around us but also on the corporate level and it is heartwarming to see people walking the walk and not just talking the talk. Needless to say, we still ought to do a lot more, like was recently being told to Theresa May by a cross-party group of politicians. UK must be “on a war footing” like it was during the Battle of Britain and end “climate appeasement” to avert disaster. The official target of cutting down on carbon emissions by 80 per cent before 2050 is seen as a lenient action by the group. It has advised that this target be ripped off in order to achieve zero emissions by as early as 2040. It is only through this way that a curb on global temperature increases can be avoided to meet its catastrophic effects.
We should be looking at The Paris agreement as just a start for the developed nations to set an example for other countries so that we can save our planet. We need to fight this common enemy together if we plan to gift our future generations a healthy planet to live. “The enemy is real. It’s always been real.” – GoT.
