We don’t know what is wrong with the weather, I pity all my friends who have traveled all the way to England to watch the world cup live. All the money spent which was saved for years. All the savings put towards travel and world cup match tickets, are in vain. This is why ICC should have taken care of the unpredictable weather of the English. England got revenue but is now cursing the weather.
The match between India and New Zealand at Trent Bridge in Nottingham has been called off due to persistent and heavy rains. Again, the points have been shared between the two teams. An inspection was scheduled but the rains came down before the umpires could step into the middle for the toss. The next inspection was also scheduled but finally, the umpires decided that the outfield could not be made ready in time for even a 20-over match.
Both the teams remain unbeaten in the tournament which is not good for a world cup series match. With this result, New Zealand moves ahead of Australia to the top of the points table, with 7 points from 4 matches. India has moved ahead of England to the third position on the table, with 5 points from 3 matches. After starting their World Cup campaign with a six-wicket win against South Africa, the Men in Blue went on to defeat a confident Australia by 36 runs. New Zealand tops the table after beating Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in their first three matches of the tournament.
Sadly speaking, another match has been called off at this World Cup without a single ball being bowled. Here’s how the points table looks like:
- New Zealand – 7 points from 4 matches
- Australia – 6 points from 4 matches
- India – 5 points from 3 matches
- England – 4 points from 3 matches
Now it’s the time to tell what will be the finals like, will it be a “pointy” win or will the actual game of bat and ball be played.
